Last weekend we went out of town to a friend’s BBQ and Roxy had her 1st actual taste of a burger. While she has been to In and Out before, this was the 1st time we actually got her to take a bite. Roxy has taken to American food pretty well. At home, we actually cook a lot of Asian food. It’s not that either me or my husband are actually that into Asian food, it’s just that it’s pretty easy to make say chicken or fish and rice and some sort of veggie and call it a meal. I’m planning on taking advantage of all the fresh produce in the Summertime and trying at least 1 new recipe a week this Summer. If anybody has a recipe that you’d like me to feature, please feel free to email it using the link on the side. I am specifically looking to try healthy kid friendly recipes.
Roxy has been doing well and is well-adjusted, active, and healthy. I’ve actually been trying to balance everything going on and slow things down a bit because I was getting a bit overwhelmed with our schedule. I’m in a Christian Mom’s Fellowship for River Ridge Neighborhood Church of Elk Grove, an Elk Grove Christian Adoptive Mom’s Fellowship, and a Women’s Fellowship all with young wives within a few years of my own age. Roxy has regular play dates and even a regular Summer play group that is starting up. That combined with Roxy’s medical appointments, and juggling in time to see family and friends makes for a really full schedule. Also, it’s now officially wedding season and baby shower season so there is something going almost every weekend. Finally, as a family we have been trying to read to Roxy and are working planting seeds to understand what it means to be a Christian. I will post a video of Roxy praying when I get a chance. I definitely am grateful for all the good things happening in our lives. I just feel we need to slow it down a little and carefully prioritize since our lives are so busy.
I have a specific prayer request. Please pray that I can figure out a way to obtain Roxy a valid birth certificate. So Roxy’s People’s Republic of China Birth Certificate isn’t going to work here in California. It says birth place unknown, parents unknown, and birth date estimated. This China birth certificate won’t work when Roxy comes of age to get her driver’s license or get married. So it’s probably best for me to take care of this now. I need to figure out a way to get a U.S. issued birth certificate (you can get a U.S. issued birth certificate even if you weren’t born in the United States under certain conditions). I have heard that you can get a court order to get the State of California and the Bureau of Vital Statistics to recognize your foreign adoption. A judge would sign off on the order and it would go to the Bureau of Vital Statistics which would generate a U.S. issued birth certificate. The only problem is, I have not found a single law firm willing to work with me to figure out how to do this. The other way to get a valid birth certificate for my daughter would be re-adopt her in the State of California. This is something that we are willing to do but it’s a lot of work to go through and would also probably require a lawyer to push it through. Any prayers to help this situation would be appreciated. Thank you my friends!
XOXO Jax
