I was carrying Roxy today and I realized that she seemed a lot heavier than when we first got her. I decided to find out exactly how much she has grown and how much weight she has gained since we adopted her. I was astounded to measure and weigh her and realize that she has grown an inch and a half and gained 4 lbs!
Roxy has come so far in just a few months. Kenny and I were talking and we can barely remember what life was like before Roxy. It was like we didn’t know what we were missing. Roxy is such a loving and affectionate little girl. Both Kenny and I love the fact that she’s not shy with hugs or kisses. She tends to notice if people in the room need something and it’s very like her to hand someone whatever they are drinking or their shoes if they are leaving. She’s made several very good friends and we have frequent play dates that both of us look forward to. Potty training is coming along and she goes on the potty about 90% of the time when we’re at home. Roxy is also a lot more verbal in both English and Cantonese. Kenny and I are of Cantonese Chinese descent so it’s inevitable that she will pick up Cantonese since our whole family speaks it.
In honor of almost 4 months of us being a family, I have decided to list my top 5 funny Roxy does in no particular order.
Top 5 Funny Things Roxy Does
1. We praise Roxy by saying “Hun hao!” in Mandarin which translates to “Very Good!” So we have been saying this a lot when Roxy goes to the potty. The result is that now, EVERY single time anybody in the house goes to the bathroom INCLUDING THE CATS (litter box), Roxy will clap and say “Hun hao!”
2. Roxy is obsessed with shoes. It’s my fault really, because I went a little nutty when we first got her. But the direct result is that when people come into our home, she’ll take your shoes from you and put them in the closet. Then, when you leave she’ll hand them to you. Roxy also likes to take her shoes, put them on her stuffed animals, and push them in this mini grocery cart my sister got her on put them on her rocking horse.
3. When Roxy points to the freezer and says, “Ice cream! Wo gwai gwai!” Gwai means well well-behaved in both Cantonese and Mandarin. So Roxy is basically telling us, “I want ice cream! I’m being good!”
4. Awhile back Roxy hugged herself around Kenny’s leg and to her delight, he lifted his leg high several times. Now, it’s a fun ride to her. So when she wants a ride, she will walk over and plop herself on Kenny’s foot. It’s fun to watch.
5. Roxy is very musical. The girl LOVES music. We have no idea where it comes from. But play any kind of music with a good beat and she will nod her head to the music, lift her arms, pick up her feet, and start dancing.
