A Wedding Weekend

I just had a really great weekend at the wedding of our friends Jen and Brian. I met Jen back in 2005 back when everyone and their mama was blogging on Xanga. Xanga was an online blogging company that everybody used to blog. It is now defunct. Jen was one of those Xanga celebrities. She and a few of my other friends had quite a number of “friends” on Xanga. We used to organize Xanga meet ups and I went to a number of them. Thus, many of my Xanga friends crossed that line from being an “online friend” to being “my real life friends”. Since it’s fairly easy to keep track of people these days if you’re into social media, many of us have kept in touch and attend each other’s weddings. Jen is one of my Xanga friends who I met in person and who became my “real life friend”. Our friendship means a lot to me. Jen is always up late at night and I always know I can count on her if I need another opinion or just a late night chat. She keeps it real and at the same time, helps keep me grounded. I really like Brian as well and I think he’s a perfect match for Jen. Kenny and I often meet up with Jen and Brian in SF for dinner.
Jen and Brian’s wedding was held at Leal Vineyards in Hollister. Hollister is really in the middle of nowhere and it’s not an urban city. We basically stayed in Gilroy and drove to Hollister. Leal Vineyards is actually a beautiful place. There was a nice lake in the background with a waterfall and I loved how when they announced “You may kiss the bride!” that the water spray went on. Kenny and I had a great time chatting with our friends and enjoying the awesome food and scenery. We were seated at a great table with a bunch of my Xanga friends. I couldn’t help myself, I kept iding people not only by their names but by their online aliases. My Xanga was “Angelchica”. Jen’s was “Radjbo.” Rita was “Smeeta.” Jonas was “Jonasapproved.”
I have to say Kenny and I are really foodies and so are the bride and groom. The wedding food didn’t disappoint. I appreciated the fact that they served surf n turf. We were each served a plate with Chilean Sea Bass with Swiss Chard and Beef Shortribs. The dessert was freaking awesome. Although I loved the wedding cake, a strawberry cake and red velvet, the dessert table was just a masterpiece. When they set that table up, you could just hear everyone get excited. I think my favorite was the mango mousse although they were all good. They were served in these little containers and all the desserts were just so cute. I think there was mango mousse, tiramisu, sesame soy tofu, raspberry mousse, lychee rose panna cotta, and lemon cake. I’m sure, I’m missing something but you get the gist.
So Roxy wasn’t with us at this wedding. Since this was a childless wedding, we left Roxy with a family friend back at our hotel. She was fine and enjoyed playing in the hotel room on my Ipad apparently. It’s so funny, she calls my Ipad “my pad” and my Iphone “my phone.”
The next day we met up with our friends, Sean and Rita and their son for brunch at OD’s. Rita was also a wedding guest, a former Xanga celebrity, and one of my Xanga friends. Since they are Canadian, we definitely do not get the chance to see them often. It was great to hang out with Rita and her family. Rita has made me many cute items over the years. I wish I had her artistic abilities. She’s so crafty and puts together such cute things. She made Roxy the cutest ninja shirt. I so wish that they lived closer to us so we could hang out more often.
I had a fun weekend celebrating the marriage of our friends Jen and Brian and catching up with a lot of Xanga friends. Congrats Jen and Brian! May your marriage be blessed with all the love, happiness, good health, good fortune, and prosperity on heaven and earth! I hope you all had an awesome weekend as well.
