So my husband Kenny and I have been patiently trying to figure out God’s timing for our adoption. Things have been in a holding pattern, mostly because we realized that Kenny can’t come to China with me to adopt our child until after the end of his residency. Kenny is a neurologist and in his 4th year of residency at UC Davis. Since his residency ends in June of 2013, we’re trying to time it so that we get a referral at the end of 2012 or the beginning of 2013. This way we can try to travel to China to adopt our baby after Kenny’s residency is done. Travel to China is usually 6-9 months after you send in your letter of acceptance. I feel like we have a game plan now. We’re supposed to let Holt, our adoption agency, know when we’re ready to get a referral. We will be doing so by around Christmas.
I’ve been praying for my future son or daughter. Since we don’t have a gender preference, we really could wind up with either. Knowing that they are conceived, born, and alive somewhere in China right now is both exciting and difficult. Since the babies are actually usually over a year old when they are adopted, it’s pretty safe for me to say that if we’re adopting next year, that our child has already been born. It’s exciting because they are already in existence, this little person who will become a part of our family. It’s hard because I’m already worrying about my future child and wondering if they are okay. I am praying for God to watch over them and to make sure they are taken care of until Kenny and I can get to them. But I think about them constantly. Are they warm enough? Does someone hold them a lot or do they lie in a crib in China with their cries ignored? It’s in God’s hands right?
Please hope and pray for our future son or daughter, that they will be taken care of until Kenny and I can travel to China to adopt them. We’re so close.
