Charting New Territory
I’m not going to lie. I am not usually into fashion because I’m so small that nothing ever fits me. Fortunately, my good friend Olia of Oliamoda is there to help me with my fashion choices. For the 1st time EVER, with Oliamoda styling me, Jasmine Cardenas doing my makeup and hair, and DeAnna Gallardo Photography taking pics, I have finally moved beyond my insecurities about fashion and my body type.
I am freaking small. I’m 4’10 and less than 90 lbs. My husband Kenny likes to say that I make up for my size in personality. I can usually wear extra small women’s tops. For pants, I need to buy girls sizes. Think size 12 or 14 in girls.
I talked to my friend Olia of Oliamoda about all of my concerns and she offered to help style me and pick out fashionable items from my own closet that I already owned. Oliamoda is a very well known fashion blog. In other words, my friend Olia is a fashion icon. Olia picked out 3 looks for me and styled me, complete with accessories. Olia also participated in the photoshoot with me. Jasmine Cardenas did my hair and makeup (not Olia’s). DeAnna Gallardo Photography took all the pictures in this photoshoot.
Look 1
This first look is casual but trendy. Of all the looks, this one is my favorite. I’m wearing Seven For All Mankind skinny jeans in girls. I don’t usually do off the shoulder tops but Olia convinced me to try it. I think this outfit on me would be good for casual date night with Kenny. The oversized sunglasses make a statement. They exude a confidence that says, “I’m rocking this!” You’ll notice Olia is also wearing oversized glasses in red. For a few pics we also added a United Colors of Benetton coat in faux suede. I’m wearing grey, gold, and white Toms shoes.
Look 2
The second look Olia picked out for me was also casual. I’m wearing the same Seven For All Mankind skinny jeans in girls. I’m wearing suede ankle boots and a chunky turtleneck sweater. I own boots but don’t wear them that much. Olia assured me that ankle boots are absolutely in this season. Olia is also wearing ankle boots and I love the way the yellowy color pops compared to her black dress.
The black blazer I am wearing really dresses up my outfit. You’ll notice the necklace I am wearing. Olia actually gave this necklace to me and I love it because it’s actually a little pocket. Fun! You can put money or anything fairly small in it. The oversized red sunglasses add a pop of color to my look. I really do think it exudes confidence to rock sunglasses like this. Suddenly, I cease to be the nerdy writer.
Look 3
I would normally never in a million years have the confidence to wear a dress as colorful as this. However, Olia convinced me to go for it. Especially relevant, I actually got this dress at one of Oliamoda‘s popups. I also have never worn boots with a dress. But Olia showed me how well this works. It’s a different take on heels with a dress. The brown leather jacket adds an edgy feel to the look. I really love the dangly earrings from Olia. They go well with the dress. I think the little purse ads a nice touch to the outfit. This outfit would be perfect for a date night or a night out with the ladies.
I hope you’ve enjoyed these 3 looks. Thank you to my friend Olia of Oliamoda for styling me, my friend DeAnna of DeAnna Gallardo Photography for these awesome shots, and Jasmine Cardenas for doing my hair and makeup.
As my friend Olia will say, keep styling! Thank you for checking our my Fall Fashion post.
