Grand Opening of Nash & Proper – Elk Grove, CA
Well, we finally have it! Nash & Proper is right here in Elk Grove!! Just check out this sign!
For those of you who have never heard of Nash & Proper, they were founded by Cecil Rhodes II and Jake Bombard in 2018. They started with a food truck and eventually worked their way up into owning a restaurant in Sacramento. As of June 19th, 2021, they are proud residents here in Elk Grove, and boy was I excited! Inspired by the famous Nashville chicken sandwhich, Nash & Proper has a variety of chicken products that are sold on a mild – “cluckin hot” spice level. Of course I had to try it all, so let’s get into it!
Atmosphere
When you enter the building, it’s clear that you are in Nash & Proper! Their logo is everywhere. They were playing pop music and had plenty of friendly staff members to great us and answer any questions we might have. Our food. came fairly fast, but still aloud enough time to find a table and look around the building. Not only is there indoor dining, but they have a great outdoor venue with lights and corn hole.
The Food
The first thing I. had to have was the iconic Sammich!
This heary piece of meat is fried to perfection, and stuffed with slaw, pickles, and their fuego sauce. This was easily shareable, as it is huge! The crunch was loud and flavorful, and even the mild spice was hot! We enjoyed this very much.
Next on the list was the Jumbo Wings
These wings were unlike any wings I’ve ever had. They were full wings, breaded and. overed in the spicey sauce. They were placed upon two slices of white bread which soaked up the remaining sauce. The meat was juicy and soft, and it fell of the bone easily. While three may not sound like alot, these will definitly fill you up!
The final meat item we tried was the tenders.
These tenders were spicey and large. Easily shared amoung two, these tenders tasted similarly to the sammich. The crunch was fantastic and the flavor was great! I would have liked some kind of sauce on the side though, as I find dipping tenders into something makes them taste even better.
We also added two sides with our meal. The first one was the Pickled Slaw.
The slaw was fresh and very flavorful. This is not like your average slaw, it’s much more spicey and savory. The use of cilantro is strong, and the jalepenos are spicey. Overall, we enjoyed this dish, but with the serving size was a bit larger.
The final dish we ordered was the Mac and Cheese.
This dish was served warm and topped with. crunchy breadcrumbs. The cheese used was the plastic-like American cheese. I wasn’t expecting the quite obvious cheesy flavor, but I enjoyed it. Once again, we would have liked a larger serving, but besides that we were satisfied.
Overall
Nash & Proper is truly a great edition to Elk Grove. Their food is fresh, the atmosphere is fun, and the service is fabulous. I highly reccomend you give them a try and make sure to let me know what you think!
