I love green onion. I didn’t know I loved it until about 2 years ago. Now, I add it into everything I cook. It doesn’t matter if I’m cooking soup or chicken, chances are you’ll find me adding a few handfuls of green onion. A few months ago a friend encouraged me to try growing my own in a jar. I simply cut the green onion as usual and reserved the white roots. I stuck them in a mason jar with about an inch of water. Over the next couple of days the green onion shot up. Now I just keep growing it. If it starts growing too much or the water gets rancid, I simply plant it in my backyard. I now have really nice crop of green onion in my backyard. I really highly recommend you just grow green onion yourself if you like using it in your cooking. It’s really the easiest thing I’ve ever grown. I just keep adding water and it keeps growing.
