Corn on the cob, bbq pork ribs, teriyaki beef sandwich, ginger chicken salad, cucumber salad, & kimchi tofu with shoyu
The Japanese Buddhist Church Bazaar is an annual event. I remember going to this event as a little girl and I try to make a point of going every year. Every single Japanese person that I know who grew up in Sacramento has been involved in this event in someway or another before.
This year’s bazaar was much like past years. Kenny and I went at noon on a Saturday and bravely faced the crowds of people. We quickly decided to split up in order to efficiently procure some food. We got corn on the cob, bbq pork ribs, teriyaki beef sandwich, ginger chicken salad, cucumber salad, & kimchi tofu with shoyu. My favorites were the teriyaki beef sandwich and the bbq pork ribs. I also got a cherry snowcone. They have a variety of Japanese beers and also a respectable array of teriyaki chicken, sesame chicken, curry, rice balls, and tempura available. All in all, I was happy with my experience although the crowds were a bit annoying. We had to fight a bit to get seats at a table. We totally enjoyed the taiko drum performance. I also purchased a cloth embroidered with a Japanese design. They have a lot of handmade Japanese crafts and items for sale, generally at pretty reasonable prices.
I would not go to this event if you can’t handle crowds. But this bazaar is a great way to kill 2 hours. Come hungry and leave happy!
