Museum of Ice Cream – San Francisco
About Museum of Ice Cream
I was so excited to hit the Museum of Ice Cream with my family last week. I had heard that it was lots of fun and that there was plenty of ice cream to sample. Roxy and Carissa, of course, didn’t need any convincing.
Basically the Museum of Ice Cream is great if you want to sample ice cream and take cute pics with your family. So Museum of Ice Cream is actually quite popular and you need to buy tickets online. I secured my tickets months in advance. They usually do not have any openings for sale at the door because it’s just so popular. We arrived slightly late, and I was relieved that they still let us in even though we were a bit past our time.
What We Did
When you first go in you can take pics in front of the Museum of Ice Cream sign. They give you spoon-sized samples of ice cream. My favorite was the Churro flavor. Roxy and Carissa love the Confetti flavor. Afterwards we got to check out the swings. It was so much fun for Roxy and Carissa to swing side by side!
By far one of the funnest things to do at the Museum of Ice Cream is to go into the sprinkles pool. You take off your shoes and jump in! Well, actually, they don’t allow jumping but you get the point. We kept tossing sprinkles at each other. I had to stop Carissa from eating the sprinkles. Afterwards, we had sprinkles EVERYWHERE! I even had to shake them out of Carissa’s pull-up!
We learned a bit about ice cream and got to sample some mini ice cream cones. They gave us these cute, tiny little cones with Cherry Lime Rasbberry sorbet. It was fun to eat them in the little 50s diner.
We played around with these pink magnetic letters and spelled out our names and Jax Chronicles. Since the room had pink letters it seemed quite fitting that we got to sample pink cotton candy.
There were a couple of horse-type contraptions for people to ride. It was basically a horse-type contraption that rocked from front to back. We still aren’t sure what animal it was supposed to be. We also sampled popsicles in fruity flavors and rode unicorns. Roxy and Carissa were so cute and insisted on riding the unicorns while eating their popsicles. It was quite an effort for me to keep them from dripping onto the unicorn.
Even I enjoyed riding the unicorn. I don’t know what it is about unicorns but it’s always been my dream to sit on one and take a pic. Dream fulfilled!
We enjoyed taking pics in the gummy bear room but were disappointed that there weren’t any gummy bears to sample. We finished off the day with a Mint Chip flavored mochi. It was awesome! I had never had mochi in Mint Chip before but it’s definitely one of my favorite ice cream flavors.
Our Take On Museum of Ice Cream
I think I loved eating the little cones of Cherry Lime Raspberry Sorbet and the Mint Chip Mochi the best. My favorite things to do were to go in the sprinkles pool, ride the unicorn, and spell out words using the pink magnetic letters. I asked my daughter Roxy what her favorite things to eat and do were. She said she liked eating the popsicle, the mini ice cream cones, and the cotton candy. Roxy said her favorite things to do were the swings, “riding the horsey thing,” and ride the unicorn. Kenny liked the little cones of Cherry Lime Raspberry sorbet and Mint Chip Mochi the best. (I guess it makes sense that I married a guy who has similar taste in food.) In terms of things to do he liked the sprinkles pool and the swings the best. So there you have it. Those are my family’s favorites.
My family really enjoyed our trip to Museum of Ice Cream. I think it’s a great family activity if you do some careful planning. Keep in mind it’s a timed activity so once you leave a room, they keep you moving forward. If you’re looking for something to do for about an hour in San Francisco, I highly recommend you check Museum of Ice Cream out. Be sure to bring a smart phone with a good camera or a good camera!
