My family went to Schlesinger’s for my Mother-in-law Eva Cheung’s birthday. We did not know that this would be the last birthday she would celebrate or that she would pass away on April 22, 2017. You can check her obituary in the Daily Press to see that I’m telling the truth. That’s why this visit to Schlesinger’s was all the more precious. The food and customer service was spot on and they brought joy to my Mother-in-law when they brought out the food and presented her with a free cupcake. This is something I will always cherish and remember for the rest of my life.
As a first timer, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food there. They sat us quickly after we walked in. The staff was very quick about setting up Carissa with a high chair and Roxy with a booster seat.
For appetizers, we ordered the Coconut Shrimp & Fries, the Crab Claw & Shrimp Cakes, and the Chesapeake Bay Fried Oysters. I also took the liberty of ordering a French Onion Soup Gratinee.
The Coconut Shrimp & Fries were my favorite appetizer. I’m normally not a shrimp person. But I like these shrimp. The delicious shrimp dipped in coconut and fried make a perfect appetizer. The Crab Claw & Shrimp Cakes were also good and very flavorful. My Mother-in-law loved these and couldn’t stop raving about them.
The Chesapeake Bay Fried Oysters were fine but they came nowhere near the incredible taste of the Coconut Shrimp or the Crab Claw & Shrimp Cakes. I did like dipping them into the sauce.
I loved the French Onion Soup Gratinee. OMG! Schleshinger’s French Onion Gratinee is one of the BEST French onion soups I have ever had! It’s flavorful and has the perfect amount of bread topped with melted cheese. I could have a bowl of the French Onion Soup Gratinee from Schlesinger’s everyday.
I ordered the Prime Rib Sandwich With Horseradish Cheddar, Au Jus & House Made Fries. I really liked this Prime Rib Sandwich. It’s hearty and meaty and the au jus is just perfect. The house made fries are crispy with a lot of flavor. The au jus is just right, being slightly warm and perfect for dipping. I can tell they really pay a lot of attention to the fine details. I polished the fries long before the sandwich was done.
My hubby had the Ultimate Burger With Smoked Bacon & Horseradish Cheddar. This burger is made with high quality ground chunk ground with Andouille sausage. Judging by the fact that that my hubby killed his burger before I even finished my soup, I’d say it was a good burger. I had a bite and I really like the bacon and cheddar with the burger. The sausage ground with the ground chuck really flavors the burger and gives it a good kick.
Schlesinger’s gave us a free Chocolate Cupcake in honor of my mother-in-law’s birthday. They brought out the cupcake lit by a candle. She smiled with delight and we all enjoyed the cupcake. This is a moment that I will cherish for the rest of my life. It is one of my last good memories with my Mother-in-law. They even took a picture for us. I can’t even tell you what our experience at Schlesinger’s or this pic means to us. All I know is that my Mother-in-law was happy. You can see it in the picture.
Overall, my family and I thoroughly enjoyed the food, the atmosphere and the customer service. Schlesinger’s is definitely a well thought out, upscale steak and seafood restaurant with high quality food. I would definitely like to bring my family and eat here again. I would like to personally thank the staff of Schlesinger’s for the incredible food and customer service you gave us on April 13, 2017. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping my Mother-in-law to have an awesome 69th birthday. We are sad that my Mother-in-law is no longer with us. But we will remember the incredible experience that we had and continue to visit Schlesinger’s as a family. Thank you for lifting up our family. Jax approved!
