I’m going to be straight forward. The service could have been better. It wasn’t bad but certainly could have been more attentive. I had one good dish and everything else didn’t meet my expectations.
The ricotta gnocchi appetizer with braised meatballs and wild mushroom sherry cream with was awesome. The grilled swordfish with chorizo and grilled farro was reasonable but not great or spectacular. I liked the farro. The swordfish could have had a bit more flavor. The risotto was by far the worst risotto I have ever eaten. It had an almost sour taste and it looked like puke. I would have been fine with a simple risotto made with chicken broth and some fresh veggies or mushrooms. This risotto just missed the mark in so many ways. I’m still gagging as I think about it. The creme brulee they brought me for my birthday would have been good but it was ice cold. Clearly, it was not freshly torched.
I will say I do like the intimate atmosphere of the restaurant. They had a good wine selection and I was pretty happy with the Dr. Loosen riesling I had. It’s a pity because this is supposed to be a good restaurant. However that crappy risotto and the average service really just turn me off. If I’m going to spend that kind of money I expect better. I will likely not come back here for quite some time.
