So I’m going to say that I’m picky about my shaved snow. I get plenty of good shaved snow when I go out of Sac and have had shaved snow in Hong Kong and Toronto. When people sing praises about Vampire Penguin’s shaved snow, I smile politely, and wonder why they like it so much. Not all the shaved snow places in Sac do it for me. Snobites meets and exceeds my high standards for Asian desserts and shaved snow.
I had the opportunity to visit the fairly new Snobites on Elk Grove-Florin Road in the Savemart shopping center in Elk Grove. I had just come out of a eating a buffet at Fuji’s and really didn’t think I’d have much room for more. I was wrong. Although I was full as heck, I slowly and delightedly devoured my order. We ordered the Mango Shaved Snow with mango, strawberries, mango mochi, and a condensed milk cap. It was awesome. The shaved snow tasted very mangoey, and the fruit was very fresh. You could tell the mochi was made freshly as well. I can tell when mochi has been sitting around for awhile. This mochi was good. Brick Toast has been around for years but has only recently been showing up in dessert joints in Sacramento. We got the Brick Toast with strawberries, green tea ice cream, and a strawberry macaron. It was sweet but not over powering. The brick toast went well with the ice cream and the strawberries. I honestly didn’t get to taste the strawberry macaron because Roxy commandeered it and then promptly requested and got another one. But I’m sure it was good. I personally loved my Mango Smoothie with lychee jelly and strawberry pieces. The jasmine tea with grass jelly was good as well. The servers are very knowledgeable so you if you tell them what type of tea you like, they can guide you to a drink that will suite your palate. I was so full the day I went to Snobites but we finished every single bite.
I don’t usually pay attention to the bathrooms in dessert places but Snobites bathrooms were really cute and really well done. You can rest assured that Snobites in general is clean, tastefully decorated, and well furnished. All of the furniture is artfully picked, yet very practical. Snobites has plenty of games to play so you can hang out with your friends and play a game while grabbing dessert.
All in all, the customer service was excellent, the desserts were spot on, and Snobites has a trendy urban vibe to it that will appeal to young people and families alike. I’d like to go back to Snobites soon and try their chicken wings and some of the other snacks. My daughter Roxy is already asking to go back so I’m sure we’ll be back soon. I’m so happy that Snobites has come to Elk Grove! I think it’s my favorite dessert place in Sacramento now!
