I visited The Press for the first time with my husband and a few friends. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, the attentive service, and the tapas and pasta. The decor is pretty urban and it’s a great place for eating out with friends or a date.
They are known for their tapas here. There were 5 of us and we ate family style. It was great because we each got to try a bit of everything. I really liked the bay shrimp, artichoke, and couscous. There was something about that flavor combo that worked. The celery, blue cheese, dates, and almonds was also very tasty. It was light but refreshing. The fetticine all carbonara, asparagus, peppered bacon, and parmesan was very flavorful. You could really taste the bacon and I actually considered ordering another dish of this. The potato gnocchi, prosciutto, favas, and peas, in parmesan cream sauce was sublime. The gnocchi was pillowy and almost melted in your mouth.
We also ordered the crispy pork belly and spring vegetable risotto. They weren’t terrible but they were just okay compared to the other dishes. I would likely not order them again.
We had the strawberry rhubard tart with vanilla ice cream for dessert. The strawberry and rhubarb was very fresh and you could tell they had made the tart crust themselves. It was the perfect way to end the meal. They also had a very good wine selection.
I’ll definitely be back here. I really hope The Press sticks around.
