Carissa Is 3
Carissa turned 3 in February and I can’t believe it. She’s become such an outgoing, active little girl who is very feisty! She loves Peppa Pig and Masha and the Bear. Potty training has occurred. Accidents are occasional and we have her in Pampers pull-ups. Carissa loves eating noodles, soup, and pasta like Mommy. Roxy and Carissa get along well. Furthermore, Carissa really looks up to her big sister. I’ve already signed up Carissa for Merryhill Preschool this fall. My baby girl is growing up so fast. She’s still young enough so that I can hold her and cuddle with her and I’m trying to enjoy it.
For Carissa’s birthday this year we just had a little birthday dinner at home and a big joint party with Roxy at Rockin Jump in March. I do NOT recommend Rockin Jump.
Lunar New Year & The Year of the Pig
Aren’t the girls cute in their Chinese dresses? Roxy hates it but I love dressing them to match. As usual we celebrated at my parent’s house where my Mom cooked a fabulous dinner and the girls got their lycees. I taught the girls to say “Gung hay fat choy!” Enjoy the video.
Valentine’s Day
I got Roxy and Carissa the most adorable dresses for Valentine’s Day. I couldn’t help myself. My two little loves enjoyed a lot of candy that Roxy got at school and some roses from Daddy.
Kenny and I actually spend the evening at a friend’s house having a couples Valentine’s Day dinner. The food was epic. I think we’ve just gotten to the point where we like to avoid crowded restaurants so Valentine’s Day we don’t like to go out anymore.
My Birthday
I’m not happy about the fact that I’m approaching 40 but I did really enjoy celebrating my birthday with family and friends. This year I’ve been really mellow so I decided to do a hot pot party at home with my friends. They all came over and we stuffed ourselves with hot pot. Of course, I’ve been on a hot pot kick ever since. I make my own soups for the hot pot too.
The weekend of my birthday we went out to eat at several of my favorite restaurants. I was craving the roasted garlic crab from Crab City so we went there. It’s definitely one of my favorite places for seafood in Sacramento and owned by a good friend.
On my actual birthday I wanted nothing more for brunch than the Praise the Lard from The Waffle Experience and a tall mimosa. It was an epic meal. This is definitely my favorite brunch in Elk Grove right now. We spent most of the day just playing in our backyard and spending time with the girls. We’re just so busy that I really treasure the moments where we can just relax and enjoy each other’s company.
Also, I had been wanting to try Echo & Rig so we went there for my actual birthday dinner. I really liked this place. Important to note, the food was great, the customer service was great, and the atmosphere was warm. My family really loves steak. I loved the ribeye. It was the perfect birthday for me. Look out for my Echo & Rig review!
This year, I am so thankful for my family and all my friends. I really have a supportive community around me and it’s great to be able to have that.
Roxy Is 3
Roxy turned 7 in March and conveniently went off track at school at the same time! So since Roxy only had a half day, we took her to Strikes for some bowling and fun with some of her good friends. We also had dinner at Wasabi Grill (her choice).
I can’t believe Roxy is 7. It seems to me only yesterday when Roxy was 2 and we were trying to potty train her. Roxy is feisty, outgoing, and very very passionate and determined. She loves My Little Pony, LOL dolls, and making slime. In terms of interests, Roxy takes three dance classes from Rize All (yes three) which are intro to hip hop, ballet, and a competitive hip hop dance team. She also takes jiu jitsu from Waza Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I don’t know what I’d do without my feisty dancing Princess Panda of Bacon, as she calls herself.
Thoughts
Overall, this year is just flying by. My girls are growing like weeds. I love just spending time with my family even if it’s doing something silly like painting rocks or making slime. I’m growing Elk Grove Tribune a lot and engaging a lot of new partners.
Please pray for me that I can balance my life better and have some more time to just relax. My life is crazy busy and I know God is telling me to slow down right now.
I hope you and all of your families are doing well. I send you all love, light, and blessings.
XOXO Jax
