Well, Spring is here and the weather has been heating up. Carissa has been growing like a weed and somehow managed to gain close to 6 lbs in a month! I’m not joking. She was just under 5 lbs on March 1. If you look at the picture from a month ago, it says Carissa was 4 lbs 10 oz. I have no idea how it’s possible to gain 6 lbs while subsisting on breast milk and formula but I’m so thankful that she’s thriving. I was so upset after Carissa’s 1st doctor’s appointment when her pediatrician told me she really wasn’t thriving and we needed to make sure she gained weight. So I’m just relieved that my baby girl is healthy. It makes me happy to see how much her cheeks have filled out.
We’ve slowly started to take Carissa out. We went to church on Easter and have been out to a few restaurants. So far so good. It’s always interesting to see how Carissa reacts to different environments. We are still more comfortable when people come to see us rather than when we go out.
Roxy has been adjusting well to being a big sister. She likes helping to feed the baby and likes watching us change her diapers. Sometimes Roxy wants to sing to the baby. My heart swells with happiness when I watch and hear Roxy singing to Carissa, even if she’s just singing Itsy Bitsy Spider or another children’s song.
Please pray for Carissa to continue to gain weight and for Roxy and Carissa’s relationship to continue to grow. I would also like to ask for prayer because we’re having a hard time with Carissa sleeping at night. None of us get much sleep. She’s a night owl like her Mama. She also gets hangry very easily. Hangry is a cross between hungry and angry. Also, pumping breast milk every few hours is tiring. We can’t wait until Carissa starts sleeping through the night.
I am one happy but tired Mama. I hope you are all doing well. I send you all love and light.
XOXO Jax
P.S. Reviews of Binchoyaki Izakaya and Daisy M Productions coming up!
