This lighted display looked like the cat was shooting water from it’s mouth into the flower.
This lighted dragon was my favorite display.
We visited the Global Winter Wonderland in Sacramento by Cal Expo with my parents and some close family friends and it was great. I told my husband Kenny, that I was kinda proud that we had something like this in Sac. After doing some research on the internet we decided to go because they have a lighted display with international themes, international food, rides, and stuff for the kids. The crowds were a bit heavy so if you go, my advice is to get there early and bring strollers for your kids aged 4 and under. We went with my parents and our good friends and had a blast looking at the lights. While the wait times for food and the long lines were a bit ridiculous, and the foods seem to be mislabeled, the food itself was reasonable and they had a lot of variety. (They labeled teriyaki chicken and chow mein as Thai food and under American food it said fish tacos but they didn’t have anything American like a burger or a grilled cheese.) Needless to say, the food stand labels had me a bit confused. Like why the heck weren’t fish tacos under Mexican food?
We were delighted to realize that Roxy is over the 3 ft or 36 inch mark and can now ride a lot of the kiddie rides. I realized just this week after measuring her that Roxy has grown a whopping 4 and 1/4 inches since the end of January 2014. Anyway, Roxy loved the Minion ride and going down the big slide with Baba. I couldn’t get anybody to go on the Ranger with me but c’est la vie!
For those of you in Sacramento, if you’re considering going, I’d like to offer some tips. Go early! I can’t emphasize this enough. Buy your tickets online before you get there. You can use the promo code SMUDGWW14 to get $4 off each ticket. Then print your tickets at home and bypass the long lines to buy tickets there. Bring strollers for your kids. Also, I’d try to eat in that building where they display all the arts stuff during the California State Fair. I recommend the chicken kabobs that are outside the building near the lights area. The Asian food was just okay. I probably wouldn’t get it again. Also, bundle up because it gets really chilly. I was really glad that I had brought beanies and gloves for our whole family.
The Global Winter Wonderland runs through January 4 from 4:30-11:00pm daily so check it out if you’re looking for something to do with your family this holiday season.
