Happy Birthday Roxy! We can’t believe you’re 4! Baba and I are so proud of the friendly and feisty little girl you are and so proud to be your parents.
It seems to me only yesterday when we brought Roxy home from China and celebrated her 2nd birthday. Suddenly I blinked and my baby girl is growing up before my eyes. I wish I could give her a pill to keep her a baby a little bit longer.
Roxy celebrated her 4th birthday surrounded by family and close friends. Roxy wanted a minion party so we had a little birthday party the weekend before her birthday at our house, complete with minion hats for the kids, plenty of minion favors, and minion cupcakes. We had homemade Chinese food (fried rice, chicken, soy eggs, chow mein, and dumplings). I think it was just nice for Roxy to get some TLC since we have been so focused on Carissa lately. Roxy had a great time playing with her friends and riding on her new motorized scooter and playing on the floor piano (like the one in the movie Big with Tom Hanks).
On Roxy’s actual 4th birthday, Kenny and I decided to take Roxy out without baby Carissa and let her just spend some quality time with Mama and Baba. Roxy said she wanted to get her ears pieced and her nails done so that’s what we did. We went to Claire’s and Roxy had fun picking out pink stud earrings. She cried for a second when they actually did the piercing but quickly stopped when we told her she could pick out some jewelry in the store. Then we proceeded to Tropical Nails and all three of us got manicures and pedicures. Kenny was a great sport! We let Roxy pick out our nail polish colors. Roxy picked out hot pink with white dots for my toe nails and hers, and fuchsia with sparkles for our hands. Kenny got blue toe nail polish and clear for his hands. I almost died laughing when I saw Kenny’s blue toes!
I think of how far Roxy has come and I am so proud to be her Mama. Roxy came to us knowing no English and she was scared and timid when we first got her. Roxy does very well in her preschool now. Roxy knows all her letters and numbers. She can recite the alphabet and count to 30. She knows the days of the week, and can identify most colors and shapes. Her English has come so far. She still loves anything Frozen, My Little Pony, Hello Kitty, the colors pink and purple. She loves playing soccer at her preschool. She’s on the Merryhill Mini-Kickers. Roxy is such a feisty and friendly little girl. She’s very thoughtful and I am very proud to see that she has a heart for others. She notices when someone is upset and takes active steps to comfort them. She knows when I need a hug and how to calm me down. I am continually amazed by her selflessness and her acts of empathy.
Roxy, I hope you had a good birthday sweetheart! Never forget how much Baba and I love you! Never forget that we CHOSE YOU and we CHOSE to be your parents!
Thank you to everyone who has helped to lift up my daughter Roxy. I ask for your continued prayers for the growth and development of both of my daughters.
XOXO Jax
