Recently, Carissa fell off a play structure, chipped two teeth, and also managed to manifest two cavities. Thankfully, I found Kids Care Dental & Orthodontics which specializes in dental care and orthodontics for kids. I’ve gotta say, Dr. Thompson and the staff of Kids Care of Elk Grove have gone above and beyond to give my girls good dental care.
I honestly didn’t know what I was doing as I frantically searched for a dentist who could accommodate a 2 year old toddler. I knew Carissa would almost certainly scream her bloody head off as they worked on her teeth. Kids Care Dental & Orthodontics came highly recommended by my current dentist. When I called, they were nice enough to fit us in the same day. For a frantic Mom who needed some reassurance, I can’t tell you how much I appreciated this.
When we first went in, I noticed that they have a play room for kids and a lot of games and activities for kids. My girls Roxy and Carissa had a ball playing with all the games and checking out all the activities. There was even a Merry-Go-Round outside!
We were shown to a room and Carissa was given a balloon which she loved. They asked me if there were any movies Carissa liked and before I knew it, Frozen was playing on the television screen directly above her chair. The screen was on the ceiling so that she could watch it lying down.
Dr. Thompson has been great from the start. He took a look at Carissa’s teeth and talked carefully to me about what we could do about the chips in her teeth. He informed me that she had cavities and mentioned that her teeth were structured with less dentin and thus were more susceptible to cavities. I thought we were going to have to schedule another appointment to take care of the cavities. But to my surprise, Dr. Thompson decided to give up his lunch hour, just so he could stay and fill Carissa’s cavities and I wouldn’t have to bring her back to fill them. I was so thankful.
Dr. Thompson was able to fill the cavities. He also gave me excellent tips on caring for Carissa’s teeth. I needed him to give it to me straight and told him this. So he told me he would wait to fix the chips in Carissa’s teeth unless she continued to have pain, because she would likely be traumatized by the experience. He suggested on waiting to fix the chips in her teeth until she is a little older. This was about in line with what I had been thinking.
I checked in on Yelp and discovered, to my delight, that I got a free toothpaste for checking in on Yelp. This Crest Detox toothpaste has been my favorite toothpaste ever since.
Since our first visit, we have returned so Dr. Thompson could check up on Carissa. She is always a bit apprehensive while sitting in the dental chair, but Dr. Thompson always calms her down and is very understanding. Dr. Thompson is also Roxy’s dentist. He knows that Roxy is very curious about what is going on so he lets her hold a mirror so that she can see what he is doing. Roxy loves this.
I really couldn’t ask for a better dentist or for better dental care for my two girls. I highly recommend Kids Care Dental & Orthodontics and Dr. Thompson for all your children’s dental and orthodontic needs. The staff at Kids Care Dental are very well equipped to handle kids, have plenty of things to entertain them, are very empathetic and understanding, and do a good job catering your family’s needs both in and out of the dental chair. You can tell they just really love kids and genuinely like lifting up the families they serve. I have no reservations whatsoever about recommending Kids Care Dental & Orthodontics.
