As a Mom, I don’t have the time to review every single restaurant I go to. However, I’ve had more than 5 people tell me that I should check out Yang’s Noodles and review it. I finally went this past weekend and the food didn’t disappoint.
I loved the beef noodle soup. I could tell that the noodles were handmade. They just tasted really fresh. The soup was flavorful, satisfying, and a little bit spicy but nothing major. My 2 year old daughter loved the beef noodle soup. The beef roll was really tasty, although it was heavy on the scallions. The jiao zi hit the spot and they were as good as the majority of places you would find in the Bay area. I would definitely order the green onion & egg pancake again. It was a great dish and I liked the way that it was slightly crispy. Please note that you can get it with and without egg. I chose the version with egg for my first visit and without egg for my second. I prefer the version without egg. The bean curd mix (tofu) & pork was also great and my husband even said that it tasted pretty good even though he doesn’t like tofu. The meat ball was good and it disappeared rapidly once it appeared on our table. I would rate this place 4 stars out of 5. The food was good, fresh, and left me craving more.
The one dish that I honestly can’t give a thumbs up on is the xiao long bao. The xiao long bao wasn’t terrible but it just wasn’t as good as I wanted it to be. The flavor was reasonable but some of the baos broke apart before some of us could get it in our mouths so that was disappointing. I think if you go there expecting stellar xiao long baos that pop perfectly, leaving you with a mouthful of delicious soup after you bite in, that you might be disappointed. Take this with a grain of salt. I will tell you right now, I have high standards for Chinese food in general and especially for xiao long bao. I’m NOT saying don’t order the xiao long bao. Go ahead and order it if you want it. Just don’t set your expectations for xiao long bao too high. I’m still giving Yang’s Noodles 4 stars.
I would not leave without ordering the beef noodle soup, the green onion pancake, and the the beef roll. If you have more than like 3 people I would add the bean curd (tofu) & pork, and the jiao zi. I would like to go back to Yang’s noodles and try even more of the noodle dishes. Overall, I definitely recommend giving Yang’s Noodles a shot. It has good food, is family friendly, and they take reservations. Jax Approved!
