We had the kahlua pork and cabbage and the shoyu chicken. The kahlua pork and cabbage was nicely salty with a meaty aroma coming out of the pork. It was served with rice and salad. My only real gripe about this place is that I wish they served macaroni salad with the entrees along with the rice and salad. I would have appreciated macaroni salad, but you’ll notice I’m still giving Local Food a 5 star review. We got the shoyu chicken a la carte, without the rice and salad. I liked this because she gave us 2 pieces of chicken, rather than getting rice and salad with 1 piece of chicken. The shoyu chicken was also excellent and I could tell that they had marinated the chicken in shoyu, sugar, and ginger.
Local Food is a great place to get a quick bite or to get food to go. We even went back another time and got food to go on our way to Kaanapali Beach. After reading the reviews, I’m kicking myself for not trying their Spam Musubi. I’ll be back for sure the next time I’m in Maui!
