I’m not kidding when I say that my life feels like a movie on tv or one of those documentaries that you see posts about on Facebook. It really does! So we found out that our daughter Roxy has a biological cousin! I know you’re wondering how this is possible when Roxy was adopted from Wuhan. Well, I’m surprised as well. The little girl that you see above that looks like Roxy isn’t Roxy! Hope is Roxy’s cousin. A few months ago Hope’s Mom Jennifer and I found each other in a Facebook adoption group. We agreed that our daughter’s looked similar. I thought that Jennifer’s daughter Hope looked like a younger version of Roxy. Roxy, as you all know, came home in January 2014. Hope came home in November 2014. Roxy is now 3 and half on paper (we think her real age is 4 and that in reality Roxy just turned 4) and Hope is now 2. After finding out that both our daughters were from Wuhan, Hope’s parents and me and Kenny all agreed to do a DNA test. Today the results came back and it turns out our daughters are cousins and it seems likely from the results that our daughters are 2nd cousins!
I wasn’t really sure how this would turn out. But it’s such a blessing. I certainly don’t know another person from Wuhan. When you consider that Wuhan is the 4th most populated city in China behind Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou and that it has a population of 10 million, our discovery that Roxy and Hope are cousins is just a miracle. Now Roxy, not only will know another person adopted from Wuhan, but she will be able to grow up knowing a biological relative. Someday, when both girls must come to terms with the fact that they were both adopted, that might mean something to them.
I still can’t believe that Hope’s Mom and I found each other on Facebook. What are the odds?! I know in my heart that this wasn’t our doing. It was God’s doing. God wanted us to figure out all of this out for a reason. I am looking at my life now, and I almost feel like I don’t deserve all the blessings that God has bestowed upon me and my family. Roxy has a biological cousin in Hope and now Kenny and I are happy to welcome the Ringwalds into our lives and into our family. I have no idea when our families will actually meet in person but you can bet we’re gonna make it happen! The Ringwalds live in Oregon and we’re in Elk Grove, California. I’m so happy I could pop! Well, lol, I’ll do that in about 6 months!
May God bless you and your families!
XOXO Jax
