I was surfing through my Instagram feed the other day and I found my friends posting about pitaya. Intrigued, I took the time to Google it. Pitaya is essentially dragonfruit. A pitaya bowl is made with dragonfruit puree and it’s a great addition to the smoothie bowl craze. I’m very familiar with the smoothie bowls at Jamba Juice, the Acai Primo Bowl being my favorite. But I hadn’t tried any pitaya bowls. So I tried the Island Pitaya Bowl at Jamba Juice, which is billed as having pineapple juice, frozen pineapples, fresh Bananas, frozen pitaya, frozen strawberries, frozen mangos, organic pumpkin flax seed granola, fresh blueberries, honey, chia seeds, coconut. It was so yummy! I found it to be fresh and delicious. I found out that Nugget Market also carries pitaya bowls and sells the frozen pitaya if you have the inclination to make your own. Anyway, go out and get yourself a pitaya bowl today! This food trend is Jax approved!
