6 Years of Roxy In Our Lives
We just celebrated Roxy’s 6th Gotcha Day! On January 13, 2014, we adopted a scared little girl in Wuhan, China, and our lives have never been the same. Roxy is now 7 years old. She has become a very feisty, very outgoing little girl who loves to dance (takes 4 dance classes baby), take Brazilian ju jitsu, and play with her little sister Carissa. She also loves unicorns, sparkles, LOL dolls, slime, and anything pink or purple.
I remember back to when we first adopted Roxy and I can’t help but sigh. Roxy was so scared when we first got her. Everything was new to her. I remember trying to communicate with her in my broken Mandarin. I remember Roxy waking up in the middle of the night crying and disoriented and me just holding her. I knew she didn’t understand my words of comfort, and I just tried to help her to know that everything was going to be okay.
I actually thought that I couldn’t have kids because we had tried for 4 years before we adopted Roxy. Roxy made me a Mommy. And it has been the greatest joy of my life to have the privilege of raising her. I think about Roxy’s birth Mom often. I wish there was some way I could let her know that her baby is doing well. Roxy was and will always be my baby girl.
Our Adoption Ministry
In 2017, when asked what she would like for her Adoption Day, Roxy told us she wanted to help more kids get adopted. Thus, this blog Jax Chronicles became Jax Chronicles Blog & Adoption Ministry. We review medical files of children being considered for adoption. I do Cantonese translations and I am happy to announce that we now have a team that can also do Mandarin translations. We can translate adoption related documents or files, translate videos of a child, or even Skype or Facetime when adoptive families bring their child home in order to help them communicate! I am so happy that on this very blog, I can continue to help other kids be adopted. If you would like for us to help you review a medical file or need help with Cantonese or Mandarin translations, please shoot me a message.
To Roxy
Roxy, I love you with all my heart and I would adopt you all over again in a heartbeat. You were worth it. May you always be blessed, may you always be kind, may you always be feisty, and may you always know how much we love and care about you. Daddy and I love you, and we will be forever thanking God for the privilege of being your parents.
Love, Mommy
