I went here for the first time with a vegan friend. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food here. I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I was willing to give this place a shot but I was a bit skeptical since I really love my meat.
We had the crispy wontons as an appetizer. It was great dipped in the sweet sauce. I think it was stuffed with tofu but it actually had bold flavors. For dinner we shared the spicy cha cha and the bun bo hue. The spicy cha cha was sooooo good! It’s basically breaded yam and tapioca flour tossed with onions, garlic, and lettuce. I loved the flavor and seriously, if I didn’t know it was a vegan place, I would have assumed I was eating shrimp! I think the spicy cha cha was my favorite dish. We also shared the bun bo hue. If you have ever had this Vietnamese noodle soup you know that this usually has meat in it, and sometimes blood. There were actually pieces of textured soy in the bowl and I couldn’t tell the difference between it and real meat. The flavor of the broth was yummy.
The waitress was attentive and helpful and I really felt taken care of. Overall, I had a positive experience at Loving Hut and will definitely return to try more dishes.
